Broadway Wrap Up: October 2023

I saw 5 Broadway and Off-Broadway shows in October! This is a lot less than my “normal” because I was traveling for 10 days this month, and then trying to recover after that! Where to you ask? Check out my Wrap Up post to find out!

The Great Gatsby at Paper Mill Playhouse in NJ was a real treat to see and I’m so glad I caught this limited run. Only time will tell if the show makes it across the river to Broadway. I also loved Here We Are, Sondheim’s final musical – it was a weird story but I loved the ride.

‘Here We Are’ @ The Shed Griffin Theatre: NYC (10/26/23)

I had been hearing about Here We Are, Sondheim’s final musical, which is currently playing off-Broadway at The Shed. But since it’s a small venue, ticket prices were crazy – which is where I rely on the trusty lottery/rush system! Somehow I managed to win lottery for this performance and who am I to turn down a show for $25.

‘The Great Gatsby’ @ Paper Mill Playhouse: Millburn, NJ (8/20/23)

The Great Gatsby Musical is now playing at the Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn, NJ and I was able to attend its opening night on October 22nd!

Broadway Wrap Up: September 2023

I saw 7 Broadway and Off-Broadway shows in September! This is exactly how many I saw in August so maybe that’s my new normal for a while! I made it a point to see shows I haven’t seen yet this month.

Gutenberg is a new favorite and I can’t wait to go back and see it again! I loved finally seeing a show at The Delacorte Theater in Central Park – and it was my favorite people, Freestyle Love Supreme! And I attended an unexpected Sweeney Todd “concert” when things went a little wrong.

‘Rachel Bloom: Death, Let Me Do My Show’ @ Lucille Lortel Theatre: NYC (9/30/23)

My goal in September was to see new shows and I think I did pretty well with that, rounding off the month by seeing Rachel Bloom’s ‘Death, Let Me Do My Show’!

‘Gutenberg’ @ James Earl Jones Theatre: NYC (9/20/23)

Gutenberg is a new musical I didn’t know much about, but I’m always up for seeing a new show especially when friends are hyped about it!

Gutenberg stars Josh Gad and Andrew Rannells. I’m sure that means a lot to you long time Broadway people but to me, that meant the voice of Olaf LOL! I didn’t really know who they were before seeing this – but boy do I know now!

‘Sweeney Todd “Concert”‘ @ Lunt-Fontanne Theatre: NYC (9/15/23)

Josh Groban was on vacation for the week from Sweeney Todd, which means understudy time! I’ve heard great things about Nicholas Christopher, and really wanted to see him so I bought a ticket for Friday, September 15th evening! Little did I know I was in for a much different show than I anticipated…

‘Here Lies Love’ @ Broadway Theatre: NYC (9/10/23)

Thanks to the lottery gods, I was able to see Here Lies Love for my third time, but first time from the dance floor for $39!

And omg I want to go back immediately – the dance floor is the place to BE, this is such a fun show from the floor! Here Lies Love is truly a unique Broadway experience and it changes based on where you sit or stand!

Broadway Wrap Up: August 2023

I saw 7 Broadway shows in August! This is fewer than I’ve been seeing, but I also went to 6 (!!!) concerts, and most of them out of state. It was a busy month, but I still squeezed a few Broadway shows in.

I loved seeing Hadestown 3x this month – unplanned, but when Eva Noblezada’s final show was announced I couldn’t miss that – nor could I miss Solea Pfeiffer’s first show!

I’m also happy I saw my favorite corn show, Shucked again, with a friend who had never seen it before!
