‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’ @ Lyric Theatre: NYC (4/23/23)

Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would get to walk on the stage of my favorite Broadway show….but on Sunday I got to be on the stage at the Lyric Theatre, home of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

April 22nd was Cursed Child’s 5th Anniversary since opening, and on Sunday, April 23, they had a fan appreciation pre-show event which I was fortunate enough to be invited to! It was like a class reunion honestly, seeing so many friends I haven’t seen in a while, it was nice so many of us were there.

I’d also like to disclaimer that JKR does *not* profit off of Cursed Child ticket sales based on research, which is why I continue to see it. I assume she still gets a flat rate fee to use the characters, similar to how Universal Studios pays her a flat rate for Harry Potter world, but similarly buying a ticket to Universal does not directly profit JKR. She will get that flat fee regardless of how many Universal tickets are bought.

I’m going to try and be as honest and open in my reviews as I can. Please note these are my personal opinions and I’m always open to discussions!

Broadway Wrap Up: March 2023

I saw 10 Broadway and Off-Broadway shows in March! Sometimes I impress even myself, I don’t know how I saw so many shows, the 2nd week of March I was on a ROLL with the lottery wins and just rolled with it! I saw a lot of new to me shows this month too, which I was excited about.

It’s truly hard to pick one favorite show, but the new shows I enjoyed a lot were Shucked (CORN!), Life of Pi, and of course Sweeney Todd, a classic.

Check out my roundup of all ten shows I attended:

Broadway Wrap Up: February 2023

I saw 3 Broadway shows in February! February was a busy month for me, between traveling to Atlanta for work, going to the Revelle book launch event, and seeing 3 concerts – so I didn’t see as many Broadway shows – not to mention a lot of new shows are just opening, so I expect March to be busier!

I saw Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on Broadway 2x in February, so I’m doing a bit of a recap post combining my thoughts into one post!

November 15, 2022 marks the start of a new year at Hogwarts. Welcome Year 4 of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child! This was the first performance of the new cast. And I already love them so much!!!

‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’ @ Lyric Theatre: NYC (11/13/22)

This weekend was insanly busy for me. I went to a concert Saturday night (Walk The Moon!), went to bed at 3am and was up and at a Broadway show by 2pm the next day, I don’t know how either. BUT. This wasn’t just any Sunday matinee. This was the final show of the Year 3 cast. I couldn’t miss one last chance to see this cast before graduation.

‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’ @ Lyric Theatre: NYC (10/23/22)

I honestly didn’t plan to see Cursed Child again before cast change day in November, but when I learned they started doing stage door again recently I was like, “…..whelp guess I need to go back!” and entered the lottery and won immediately so HERE WE ARE BACK AT THE LYRIC THEATRE!

I’d also like to disclaimer that JKR does *not* profit off of Cursed Child ticket sales based on research, which is why I continue to see it. Audiobook Review: ‘Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald – Makers, Mysteries and Magic: The Official Audio Documentary’

When I heard about this behind the scenes audiobook documentary from Pottermore Publishing, I was curious enough to give it a try after seeing the movie. While I don’t think this adds anything to the experience or is necessary, it’s not a bad listen, and now I suddenly wish I worked on movie sets!

While it’s stated in the beginning that this contains no spoilers, I would strongly advise not listening to this before you see the movie. I felt things would have been spoiled if I hadn’t see it beforehand.

Title: Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald – Makers, Mysteries and Magic: The Official Audio Documentary
