DNF’s of 2022 – Most Disappointing Reads of 2022

In 2021, I made a “Most Disappointing Reads of 2021” list – this year, I decided to start keeping serious track of books I’m DNF-ing (did not finish) – on Goodreads, to add to my DNF shelf, I remove the “date read” so I’ve started writing it into my Goodreads reviews so I’ll know when I DNF.

I started this post back in January 2022 and now that it’s December 29th, 2022, I feel like it’s time to share! I don’t know if this will be of interest to anyone but me, but I’m listing books I DNF by month and at what percentage I stopped reading them.

Life is too short to keep reading books you aren’t enjoying and don’t care how it ends. One of my 2022 goals was to DNF books I know I’ll rate 1 or 2 stars and so far I’ve been happy with the books I’ve DNF-ed!

I DNF-ed a book at 79% and a book at 30%. It’s never too late or too early to DNF!

Top 10 of 2021 ~ Missy’s Picks

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

This weeks theme is: Best Books I Read In 2021

This week’s Top Ten Tuesday coinsides with a post I normally do at the end of every year anyway – my favorite books of the year.

Top 10 of 2020 ~ Missy’s Picks

So we’re here again, at the end of another year and I’m trying to decide what were my “top” 10 favorite books. 2020 was…..a YEAR, to say the least. I wish I could say I read more than usual this year with all the extra time, but alas, most of my reading is audiobooks and without my daily commute to work, I didn’t listen to as many audiobooks.

My goal was 100 books, until I changed it to 95 to have met my Goodreads goal haha, but I’m happy with the 95 books I read. Writing this list, I actually had a really hard time narrowing it down to just 10 – so I added 5 honorary mentions.

I DNF-ed 8 books this year – usually around the 50% or more mark. I’m learning if I don’t like a book halfway through, I probably won’t like it by the end – and thats ok. Its ok to move on from a book.

Let’s see what my favorite books of the year were! Let me know if you read any of these too!

Top 10 of 2019 ~ Missy’s Picks

I have no idea where 2019 went but here we are, already into a new year! In 2019, I read 107 books according to Goodreads, but I DNF-ed a few that ended up on my “read” list (why Goodreads WHY.) and a few picture books, but I’ll call it an even 100 books that I fully read – which makes it my best reading year yet! I’ve never read so much! I’d like to thank audiobooks for making up 95% of my overall reading.

Without further ado, here are my top 10 favorite books of 2019.

Top 10 of 2018 ~ Missy’s Picks

It’s that time of year again friends, for the Best Of 2018 lists! I’m a little late in posting this compared to some people, but such is life.

2018 was a pretty mediocre reading year for me. Looking back at what I read, there were only a few books that really WOW-ed me and I fell totally in love with. Don’t get me wrong, there were a lot of good books out this year, but as I was writing this list, once I got to about 6 books, I started feeling stumped. Yeah, it was actually difficult for me to pick 10 books, sad to say.

I liked a lot – but didn’t love ‘em. But nonetheless, here’s my list of my favorite 10 books I read in 2018!

(These aren’t in order of favorites, just in order of publication!)

Top 10 of 2017 ~ Taylor’s Picks

Hey all!

Time for my 2017 in books: I read 54, 726 pages spread across 140 books. I was so strong with my reading during the summer, almost reading a book per day, so that’s why it’s so high! The end of the year got super busy because of graduate school but I still managed to get back in the swing of things to finish off the year.

Without further ado, here are my top 10! It was so hard to choose just 10 books I loved. (Disclaimer: I tried to keep to books that were published in 2017 that I read in 2017 for this! They are also in order of when I read them, not by my favorites.)
