WWW Wednesday is hosted by Sam @ Taking on a World of Words! All you have to do is answers the following three questions:
What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?
I feel like the blog has been quiet lately and I’ve seen WWW Wednesday around, and I felt it was a nice mid-week tag to participate in! I don’t know if I’ll do it weekly but wanted to give it a try!
Currently Reading
I’m currently in the middle of two audiobooks – I started It Happened One Summer earlier this week because I felt like I needed a contemporary romance. I haven’t gotten very far into it, only about 20%. I’m not loving it yet, but I’ve heard so many great things and I think I need to get further into the story still.
And I just put that aside for the moment to join the Illumicrate Readalong for The Wolf and the Woodsman, the June book of the month! I’m about 34% into this and I also don’t know how I feel about it just yet – the writing is gorgeous, but plots like this aren’t always for me. I don’t hate it, so I’m going to keep listening. The audiobook narrator is one I’ve listened to before and personally don’t like – but audiobook is the only way I’m going to get this book read, so I’m listening anyway.
Recently Finished
The last book I finished was Realm Breaker – you can see my review of it here – this book was intense and I feel like it put me into a slump. I thought I was ready for an epic fantasy but I tend to read more contemporary short romance novels in the summer and maybe I wasn’t ready for this. Its written very well, it just wasn’t for me at this time.
Reading Next
Next up I’m planning to read my arc of The Witch Haven! This book comes out August 31st so I hoping to start it over the weekend! The Witch Haven follows Frances Hallowell, a 17-year-old seamstress in 1911 New York who is taken to a school for witches disguised as a tuberculosis sanitarium after accidentally killing her predatory boss. I’ve been on a historical fiction kick lately, and I’m always here for witchy things, so this sounds like it’ll be a great autumn read!
I hope you end up enjoying It Happened One Summer!
I cannot wait for The Witch Haven!!

I haven’t picked up The Wolf and the Woodsman yet but I have my copy waiting for me on my shelves. I do have high expectations for it and I’m glad you think the writing is beautiful so far. Hopefully the plot and character development will end up being good as well.

I’m a sucker for a witchy book, so The Witch Haven sounds good to me.
This month I’ve been completing the #SealeyChallenge where readers try to finish at least 31 poetry books or chapbooks or poems by the end of the month. So, I am reading The Age of Phyllis by Honorée Fanonne Jeffers. I talk about it more on my WWW Wednesday post here:

I’m super excited for The Witch Haven too. I wanted to want to read Realm Breaker but it looked like it was going to be too long and move too slow for me. Natalie @ Literary Rambles

I love seeing how many people are excited for The Witch Haven! I hope we both enjoy it!
And yeah, you’re right about Realm Breaker – it was long and pretty slow, which sadly wasn’t for me either. 😦
