‘None of this Rocks’ by Joe Trohman – Audiobook Review

You have probably heard of Fall Out Boy, but you might not know that Joe Trohman is the guitarist and co-founder of the band – and wrote a book! He may only be 38 years old but he’s lived a lot of life, as a lot of touring musicians have, and I found his memoir to be insightful and he’s not afraid to poke fun at himself and his life – therefore, this is also comical.

‘Groupies’ by Sarah Priscus – Audiobook Review

There are two types of book I love above all else – historical fiction and books that involve music. You tell me a story is about music in the 1970s? I’m immediately sold! I loved this story, as I knew I would.

Audiobook Review: ‘The Storyteller: Tales of Life and Music’

I’ve read more nonfiction this year than I think in all previous years combined, and I wanted to read one last nonfiction before the end of 2021 – and what better story than that of musician Dave Grohl – best known as the drummer of Nirvana and frontman of Foo Fighters. I thought this was an incredible story – Dave has a way with words, as lyric writers do – and it’s worth a read even if you aren’t a diehard Nirvana or Foo Fighters fan.

Audiobook Review: ‘Heard It in a Love Song’

I’ve recently been drawn to any book that says it involves music – I love music and attending concerts, so I’m always curious about stories to do with music. Unfortunately I found this one to be boring and DNF-ed it at 47%. I don’t usually write reviews for books I DNF, but I wanted to share a few of my thoughts on this one.

Audiobook Review: ‘Three Pianos: A Memoir’

I’ve been a fan of Andrew McMahon since the Jack’s Mannequin days. I’ve seen him on tour as often as possible and I always loved the stories he told about his songs on stage, so I was very excited to learn he’d be writing a memoir! Even if you aren’t familiar with his music, he has one heck of a story to tell about his 39 years of life so far.

Audiobook Review: ‘The Final Revival of Opal & Nev’

You tell me a story is about music, and I’m in. You tell me the audiobook is narrated by a full cast, and I’m already in love and hooked. This is the (fictional) history of the group Opal & Nev from the 70’s, told through interviews and notes from the “editor” writing this book, and of their possible reunion in 2016. I highly recommend listening to this one!

Audiobook Review: ‘More Than Maybe’

I’ve been intrigued by this book since I first heard the premise about the music aspect, and finally I was able to listen to it, and! …is this book actually written about me? I’ve never related to a book as much as I have this one – and needless to say, I loved every second of it.

If you’re looking for a YA contemporary that focuses on music, music journalism, running a venue, and concerts, step right up! This is the book for you!
