Broadway Wrap Up: September 2022

I saw 6 Broadway shows in September! …and as you can probably guess, since I’m posting this in -checks watch- Mid October, life has gotten away from me. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been having a great time living life, attending concerts and Broadway shows and New York Comic Con, but that just means I’ve had zero time to blog. I’m posting this now because I want to and it makes me happy to do so!

I’ve been belatedly posting my September Broadway reviews but they’re now all up!

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child – September 1

Back to Hogwarts Day, where else would I be but at Cursed Child?! This is the most understudies I’ve seen on in on night in a longgggg time and I wasn’t mad about it at all!! What a joy to see so many I haven’t seen before!

We had Jax!Scorpius, a trans actor playing a main character in a Harry Potter show. Big F U to JKR 🏳️‍⚧️ This was my second time seeing Jax and I stand by Jax being the softest Scorpius.

Hamilton – September 4

Sometimes you just gotta go with the flow and while I did just see Hamilton a month ago, I wanted to try their standing room for $40! Just like last month, I had Marc delaCruz as Alexander Hamilton again! I don’t know if he always go on Sundays or I’m just lucky, but I honestly loveeeee him as Hamilton! I’m not mad about it – he’s so good!

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child – September 8

The reason for going back so soon was because we found out Spencer LaRue was going to be on as Scorpius, and I couldn’t say no to seeing him for my 2nd time. I honestly feel that Spencer is my favorite Scorpius of Year 3. I love Jax of course, he’s the softest, and Brady is good, I’ve gotten used to him, but Spencer is the perfect mix of both those two actors and therefore my favorite.

I also got to see Kevin Rico Angulo as Harry Potter for the first time, now I’ve seen all the Harry understudies YAY!

Between the Lines – September 11

Happy Trails to Between the Lines! Sunday, September 11, 2022 was the final performance of this lovely little off-Broadway show that stole my heart! I ended up seeing it 3 times, but oh how I wish I could’ve seen it more, and seen more understudies in the main roles! The overall message of this musical is, “Live the story you want, if it’s not the story you’re in.” and that’s so true.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child – September 18

Cursed Child is my comfort show and nobody can take it away from me, I DARE YOU TO TRY!!! Honestly I didn’t plan to go tonight but a friend was is in town and going and I figured heck I’ll enter the lottery why not and the lottery said “ok u win here ya go” and here I am.

1776 – September 25

1776 is a musical about the events leading up to the signing of the Declaration of Independence – and the struggles leading up to it – it wasn’t a clear path! I went into this show not knowing much more than that. While the characters are mostly male, all actors in this 2022 revival production are female, non-binary, and transgender – this is a gender-swap version of this show!
