Currently Reading

I’m about 40% into the audiobook of Groupies and I’m really enjoying it so far! It’s giving me Almost Famous vibes which I completely loved, so this is really working for me and I can’t wait to see where it goes!

Goodreads says this is “perfect for fans of Daisy Jones & The Six, Mary Jane, and The Final Revival of Opal & Nev” and this is my petition to stop comparing literally anything involving rock ‘n’ roll and the 1970s to Daisy Jones. This is nothing like Daisy Jones. This doesn’t feel like Mary Jane either – Mary Jane wasn’t about being a groupie. It has a little Opal & Nev vibes but so far its more Almost Famous than anything else.

Recently Finished

I just finished These Twisted Bonds, the sequel to These Hollow Vows. I’ll have my full review up on Friday but basically – it was good, but not great. I was anticipating These Twisted Bonds SOOOO much and it was a letdown for me unfortunately. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t a story I plan to revisit.

The pacing in the first half of the book lagged on, it felt incredibly slow. Then as I realized how few pages were left and nothing was resolved, the ending felt incredibly rushed. I wish the ending had been explained better. It all happened too quickly for me to really believe it and it left me disappointed.

If you like fae stories and are looking for good one, I would still recommend this duology as I enjoyed the first book a lot and I think a lot of others will enjoy this more than I did!

Reading Next

I think I’m going to read Long Live The Pumpkin Queen next – it sounds really cute! I also want to listen to the audio arc I have of Carrie Soto is Back but I don’t know if reading it right after Groupies would be too much historical fiction for me back to back, so I’ll see how I feel after I finish that one!
