TBR: October 2021

We’re fully into the spooky season now and I’m ready to embrace it with spooky books! Can someone explain to me why there are more books than there is time to read all these books? Its a struggle! So many books and so little time. Here are some books I might read in October!

I’m currently reading White Smoke, which was on my September TBR but I didn’t quite finish it, and I’m carrying over Iron Widow and Empire of the Vampire as well – I hope to start Iron Widow very soon, I keep hitting deliver later on the audiobook from Libby! I also planned to reread Caraval and that…didn’t quite happen. Yet. So that’s a strong possibility for October as well.

  • Hold Back The Tide by Melinda Salisbury (audiobook) – This is a short audiobook that seems perfect for October and spooky season – I always like short audiobooks because they make me feel accomplished really quickly!
  • Gender Queer by Maia Kobabe (graphic novel) – I’ve been meaning to read this graphic novel for ages and when I saw it on the shelf at my local library, I figured I’d check it out and hopefully will read it before its due back.
  • A Lesson in Vengeance by Victoria Lee (audiobook) – I’ve been saving this sapphic dark academia book for October – now all I have to do is wait for that audiobook hold to come in!
  • Three Pianos: A Memoir by Andrew McMahon (ARC) – I’m so grateful to the publisher for sending me an arc of Andrew’s memoir – I absolutely love Andrew McMahon and his music, and I’ve seen him in concert countless times. He always tells the best stories during his concerts in between songs, so I can only imagine how amazing this book is going to be. He is also narrating the audiobook version of this, so I may have to check that out as well.
  • These Hollow Vows by Lexi Ryan (hardcover) – This book was in the August 2021 Fairyloot box and I’ve heard its a great read, so I plan to join the Fairyloot readalong in the first week of October for this! (Reading a book from the August box in October? Yeah, I didn’t make the rules…) I’d like to listen to this as an audiobook but my library hasn’t purchased it, so I may be reading the physical copy.
  • Joker/Harley: Criminal Sanity by Kami Garcia (graphic novel) – This is another graphic novel I’ve heard such great things about, and if you’ve been following me at all you know I LOVE Harley Quinn, so I’m looking forward to this story.
  • Empire of the Vampire by Jay Kristoff (audiobook) – As I mentioned above, this was on my September TBR list as well, but now I finally have a copy to include in a photo so, ta-da! This is a THICC book, so I’m assuming it will take me a considerable amount of time. I hope to read it before the end of 2021, at the very least…

What autumn release are you most looking forward to?
