Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
This weeks theme is: Covers That Made Want to Read the Book
I’m breaking this theme in 2 parts, Covers That Made Me Want To Read The Book – Books I Haven’t Read Yet and Books I Have Read!
Its hard to narrow it down to just 10 because there are so many covers I love! Covers with illustrations and strong typography always catch my attention.
Books I haven’t read yet:
Dreams Lie Beneath by Rebecca Ross – This gorgeous cover is an actual painting and its stunning! I love covers that are actual real life paintings – I don’t see that too often. Releases November 2, 2021.
Ride With Me by Lucy Keating – This cover is just so CUTE! I’ve loved Lucy’s past book Dreamology so of course I’m excited for this one! It comes out June 2022 – which feels SO far away!
Iron Widow by Xiran Jay Zhao – I will never be able to unsee the mock cover the author did with the character holding a dual disk from Yu-Gi-Oh on her arm. Sorry not sorry. But I do love this cover! This comes out September 21, 2021 and I have a Netgalley arc I hope to read before that.
Small Favors by Erin Craig – This one was just released last week on July 27 and I can’t wait to pick it up – the lush flowers and bee motif caught my eye! I honestly don’t know much about this one and I want to go in without knowing too much.
Bright Ruined Things by Samantha Cohoe – I LOVE the bold typography on this one! It’s in your face and the gold contrasts beautifully with the blues. This one comes out October 26, 2021.
Books I have read:
The Ex Talk by Rachel Lynn Solomon – If Rachel’s name wasn’t enough to catch my attention, this cover certainly would. Love the bold illustrations and you immediately know this is about radio. I enjoyed this one a lot.
House of Hollow by Krystal Sutherland – This cover is super creepy and not what I usually go for, but it caught my eye and drew me in – this cover lets you know this story will be dark. It’s one of my favorites of 2021!
More Than Maybe by Erin Hahn – This was the first Erin Hahn book and I loved it! I love the use of primary colors and simple lines and bold text. This cover is just -chefs kiss-!
Nice Try, Jane Sinner by Lianne Oelke – This is an older one – and I love the bold use of the color orange. I don’t see many orange covers. And all the cameras around Jane! And the sillhoutte of Jane! The script font! Love this.
The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett – I love the overlapping use of colors that look like random shapes at first, but when you look closer, you see its faces intertwined. I think this cover is genius.
